My wife and I have debts in joint name. If we decide to become bankrupt, do we both have to pay fees to thee court.
It seems stupid that having got no money, we have to pay money we haven't got to the court.

Im afraid so
But remember if your on low income and provide the relevant evidence you may be entititled to not have to pay the court fees and just pay the OR fees. "Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Thought that might be the case. So I am now stuck with the fact that we are too far in debt to be bankrupt!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A contradiction.0 -
One of lifes ironies.
Are you paying creditors at the moment? Most people stop paying them and use the funds for BR. It will take a few months before they will do any drastic action against you and with a bit of luck you will have saved the fees in time.
Are you ex-serviceman/woman? Those organisations may be able to help. Or any union you are a body of? Do you have enough credit left on a credit card/overdraft you can access? ORs tend to turn a blind eye to their fees being paid on it!! (Will have to withdraw as cash though). Ebay some stuff??0 -
do you both work? me and my wife both had joint debts but she was a housewife with no income so we were advised by a charity which i wont name, that the best course of action was for me to bankrupt as the only one with an income and see what happens, cause there not to keen on chasing debt from someone who has absolutly no income. and even if they did it would buy you abit of time to save up the moneyNorn Iron Club No:468
