Thanks for the heads up - I bet it will be quite a good price. I'll keep an eye out for it

Price is going to be 139.99
.no spec details yet.0 -
Play.com have 2 players at this price or less. Not really a grabbit at that price unless it's superb.0

I thought it was worth putting on as aldi electricals usually have a good spec and come with a 3 year warranty.0

Careful with the 3 year warranty. Its only one month for exchange in the shop, after that you have to faff around phoning, arranging collection/delivery etc. More trouble than its worth.0

Bit of an update on this Blu Ray player......
The picture on the newsletter shows it's a Tevion (no surprises there!) but as usual there are very few details given on the spec and no model number is given, so getting better info isn't easy.
But the position of the USB port is quite distinctive, so after an hour trawling through Google images I propose this to be the most likely candidate for a bit of Tevion's good old badge engineering!

There is a little more info to go on here - it is BDLive and DivX (MP4) capable, but no manual. However, there's a lot more info about it on other sites, as it seems to be one of the few players that can be made "region free" for Blu Ray discs as well as normal dvds - here's one such site (I chose this one because it has a link to the instruction manual halfway down the page);
http://www.dvdbeaver.com/FILM/hardwarereviews/momitsu_bdp-899.htm
If the Tevion player is exactly the same spec as the Momitsu it can be considered to be a good buy, but just because it shares the same case doesn't automatically mean it's the same inside, IYKWIM.
Roll on Thursday!

If you are interested in a branded player then you cannot go far wrong for only £12 more with the Panasonic DMP-BD35, available on Amazon for £152 with free delivery here :
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-DMP-BD35EB-K-Profile-Blu-ray-Player/dp/B001HN6H42
This player has won many awards and gets great reviews. It does not have the USB port, but does have an SD card slot. It also supports the AVCHD format used in Panasonic and Sony HD camcorders. More here :

I have one and have been very impressed with it. Also works great with my HD camcorder as I can cut AVCHD format DVD's on my PC which then can be played in the unit, in full HD.0
