hi

my partner is expecting a new baby in october and i currently pay 370 per month to my ex for my son under the old scheme. Can anyone advise what happens when the new baby is born? much will the CSA payment go down if any? Also will they request wage slips as i earn more now than i did 10 years ago and im worried they increase it, im already struggling as it is. Having said that my mortgage has increased and also my ex is no longer on working family tax credits so that could affect it?

Please advise.

Thanks

J

Not sure how the csa deal with these. If they do allow a reduction for a new child without looking at current changes, your ex will get a copy of the calculation and may well then ask for a further assessment on your current earnings in an attempt to reinstate an assessment of at least the £370pm it was.

Kellogs will be able to help you more, and can give you maximums in worst case scenario's etc.

Can't say without having all the details whether your assessment would increase or decrease. PM me with the details and I will calculate a new assessment.

I believe on CSA2 there is a 2.5% reduction down to 12.5% if you have another child and a further 2.5% for every child there after. Not sure about CSA1
  • Hi, we have just had a new baby and we pay csa for my husbands daughter from a previous marrage. The CSA havent done a re-assessment they have just reduced our payments by £15 a month, we are trying to contact them now to ask them to back date this from when our daughter was born in March 09. I think we are on CSA2 but i'm sure they wont need to do a re-assessment. Why dont you ring up and ask before your baby is born so that you are prepared.

Nicola - when did you notify them that the baby had been born? That is the time that they will backdate to.

i thought they only re-assess from when change of circumstances are reported.
