Uswitch and Quick Decision Loans cold calling

On 8th May I used Uswitch to do research for a car loan. I did not apply for any but from 9th May until today 12th (not including Sunday). I have been called 16 times by a loan company call Quick Decision Loans on 01252555077. I spoke to them early on and they had all my details and said I had an incomplete application on Uswitch. I thanked them and said I was no longer looking for a loan. They then continued calling and I have mostly ignored the calls. Some have been silent when I have answered.

I have told them two more times with them continuing to call, one time 20 minutes after I spoke to them. Today they woke my baby boy with their relentless calling so I got angry and had a go. I stopped short of warning them I would report them to the Police for harassment but I did get another apology and they said they would remove my details from their 'list'.

I have not had any further calls but tomorrow is another day.

This is just a warning for anyone putting their details into Uswitch, they seem to be passing customer details to this company.

  • I have had calls from these as well but they got my details from Experian when i checked my credit report. I enquired about prices of a loan in general, they weren't even in the quotes i could see, yet they have been persistantly calling. Not impressed!!

    Hiya!
I think I have made a big mistake? I checked my Experian file, then did a quick online general enquiry about a loan on Experian. The next day I got a call from Quick Decision Loans and told them I would like a loan for £6000.I went through all my personal details, job etc etc and this took about 15/20 minutes. They told me to wait for a minute and then they came back to me and told me I would qualify for a loan. They are a broker, so then asked me for my credit card details so they could deduct a fee of £60.I told them I couldn't, because that would take me over my limit, but I arranged it as a debit at the end of this month from my bank (now is the 28th of May). They told me once the fee is paid, i will receive some form from them, as well as some forms from a loan company. They told me also, there is an no obligation process and I can get a refund of the fee if I am not happy. I am getting concerned I could be scammed?

    Undoubtedly been scammed of £60.

I would contact the bank and try to stop to fee. It may not be that simple but I can't see what else you could do.

I don't understand why people give all their true details when researching for these things (loans, insurance etc)
I tend to just slap the keyboard about, there are only a couple of fields which need filling in correctly to get accurate results, phone numbers are definitely NOT one of them.

Once you find something which looks good, just go back and start again with the real details.

  • I have tried to apply for a loan through this QDL company, and have paid that £60 or £70 fee, they are a broker and they put me through to a loan company called FLM loans, who are gurantor based company. Apparentley I did not fit their criteria (even though QDL Told me I did) so they refuse to offer me the loan but would not tell me or QDL what the reason for declining is. So now I have decided to cancel getting the loan and have tried to call QDL on that number, Told them I want my refund (Because they did say if I am not happy for any reason I can ask for a refund) and the lady put me on hold. Phone cut off and now I have tried to call them back after an hour or so and it doesn't even go through now! This sounds very fishy but I don't know what to do??????

    1. Stop paying money up front to companies you have not researched first.

    2. Learn to accept that not everyone who talks you into signing something is trustworthy... even if they promise you they are genuine (even if they sound nice on the phone).

    3. Stop trying to ring them, by the time you get anywhere, you would have paid £100 on phone calls to get your money back (minus £5 they can keep)

    4. Write to them, by recorded delivery requesting your money back.

  • Thank you for that! It's going to be the 1st thing I do in the morning, I was only thinking about the loan to consolidate the debts....won't be looking to do that again any time soon:o

After you've written that letter, check out the Debt Free Wannabe board. I've been in your shoes and thought a consolidation loan would would be the answer. I didn't have a good credit score and got taken for a ride by a similar company. I got my £45 back - eventually!!
I could have saved myself a whole lot of time and hassle by sorting out the root of the problem - not living within my means etc. Debt just somehow manages to grow by itself!!
We've had some really lean times but it didn't kill us. I've sorted the debt in a far shorter time than it would have taken to pay off a loan and I can choose how I spend my surplus cash every month.

Thank you for the advice, I have been reading forums on this sites for months, and just recently joined. I know that £2k debt isn't as bad as having a mortgage or being far more in debt. But even a little debt is still debt, which I would prefer to avoid!

I will be using every bit of advice I can get here! as I am planning to buy my own place soon!

Good luck with that! I'm hoping to go down that road soon. Its much more rewarding when you have a goal to work towards!
I've been checking out the 'Debating house prices and the economy boards' - there's a lot of differing opinions on there lol

  • I know, it is fulfilling once reached! the only thing I am worried about is, a mortgage is a much larger debt than £2k! But I will have to tighten my belt and get on with it!
