Updated Printable Money off Coupons & Policies Thread 5 (and chat)

Evening all. Popped off to a local garden centre today and came back with a nice bundle of the miracle gro coupons in my grasp. There are 5 different ones each with 50p on and valid until end of year. At my centre they were on a display stand outside near the compost and inside near all the lawn/plant feed stuff.
Popped to my local Mr Ts and lo and behold finish rinse aid has a moc on for £3 valid until the end of the year. It costs £3.50 though so not sure if this is good, bad or ugly find. Maybe handy if you want to use up some internet printed ones near to their use by date or if you actually have a dishwasher.
I take my hat off to anyone handing over 30+ coupons at a time, I find myself doing smaller shops at £20-£30 a go and getting between £10 and £15 off each time. Only been couponing for about a month though0 -
Just caught up with all the coupon news
Used my Dove voucher yesterday in Boots. That's about as exciting as it gets these days for me :-D

Well a lot of us do indeed use a conditional spend and a pile of mocs together. I think the staff in your local are looking at this from the usual simplistic viewpoint that 'you haven't paid for any of your shopping anyway so why should you have another fiver off?'
Well, IMHO you should because:
1. The coupon policy clearly states that 'a customer can pay for all their shopping if they have enough coupons' (or words to that effect).
2. You have paid for your shopping; you have paid in coupons (of course). It's a method of payment that Tesco accept and that they make money from, we know that but many staff don't get it.
3. As long as you haven't used another conditional spend in your moc pile then you are allowed to use one, regardless of your method of payment for the balance. As long as you spent £30 and paid at least a fiver by a more 'normal' method then you can reclaim that fiver.
4. If the stupid moc had scanned, there would have been no issue. The problem is simply the barcode, that's all, there is no reason for CS staff to look any more closely at your transaction than to check you spent the minimum and that the moc is for the right week.
If you want to pursue this instore I would go in with a copy of the coupon policy (I just carry a copied & pasted version from the internet, minus the posts/names from the forum I took my copy from). If asked, I tell them that I know the policy as it's been in the public domain for a couple of years now, I just hand it over confidently: 'here's a copy of the policy'. I assure them that it's the actual policy wording but I understand if they want to check with HO that the wording is the 'real' policy.
But personally, in your case I think I would avoid the store if you can, why explain yourself to staff who have already decided you are doing something wrong? Why not send your receipts to Dundee with the vouchers at the end of each week. That's what I am doing with one of my local stores where they've refused point-blank to input this or any other non-scan coupon, I know I would be flogging a dead horse to pursue my claims instore.
So, if they do phone you tomorrow, listen to what they have to say and judge whether to politely state your case, or retire gracefully from the discussion, thank them for their time - and tell them you'll be asking HO. Most stores would be happy to pass the buck to HO and they will think they've successfully fobbed you off and that if you do contact HO you'll be turned down (IMHO you shouldn't be).PRIVATE 'PCN'?
