Join trade union? or Not!

Hi, Ive just joined a company?They reckonise a trade union.Problem is that the depot manager is a bully with other member of staff? Is It worth me joining the trade union as I foresee problems with this guy?As he gets rid of people that stand up to him,around 3months is his favourite.I was not sure if union reckonize people under 3months service or even 1 years service.What do you guys think?Thankyou.

It's usually a good idea to join a union, particularly if you anticipate trouble.

Yep, I'd definitely join. As a whole, I'm not keen on Unison, the union I'm a member of, but I'd rather be in than out, in case something ever goes wrong.

Individual Union Reps may not be "up to much". The Union as a whole might "sell its members down the river". I've experienced both these things.

However - I still believe its much the best idea to join a Union.

Joining a Union is like buying insurance - -there if you need it, and hope you never do...
