catalogue credit

Options
sorry if i have placed in this forum but this is my first post and i could not see another relevant forum.

I have a catalogue with Littlewoods and am an agent of them. I have allowed members of my family to order stuff from the catalogue but they have not been paying me for it and i have been putting the money in for them. Is there any way possible that Littlewoods should do this or do i owe the debt for been silly enough to let them order stuff from me.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Surely if the account is in your name then it's down to you!

Sorry not what you wanted to hear but i can't see Littlewoods chasing them for the money!
  • its ok i was just seeing if i had any other avenues to go down. yes it is in my name i was just hoping that they could do something to help otherwise i will have to pay for all the goods they got.

I'm sorry but as far as I know it's your debt.

I got into the same situation some time ago. My so called friend ordered an expensive stereo and only gave me sporadic payments. I had to make payments for her and ended up paying for most of the stereo. Naturally me and her are no longer on speaking terms, lesson learned.

If you call them and explain the situation they may consider reducing your payments or freezing the interest. It's worth a try, good luck.
  • im in the process of emailing just read an article which states that they will post my customers a letter asking them to confirm how much they owe and they owe this then they will pursue them. knowing my luck my family would not confirm they owe this

i was also in this situation with a friend who ordered a fridge freezer from my littlewoods catalogue. i sent her details to them and they wrote to her. they then wrote to me telling me i had to pay it back(she obviously did not admit the debt as her own) and i,m still paying it off now. friend won £6k on bingo and still didn't pay what she owed!
probably not what u wanted to hear but learn from it.don,t let anyone order from your catalogue no matter who they are or how desperate.

Think it's time you got heavy with family members that aren't paying for what they've ordered. Shame them into paying what they owe you. Think once you got this problem sorted out, I'd only order goods for myself. Can't believe that family could do that to one of their own. Good luck and hope you get it sorted out.

I have good news for you..it is NOT your debt.

I run Freemans, have done for years. I have customers at work and family, they all have thier own account numbers with freemans and myself,F have their addresses, none of them actually signed anything ever to agree to an account, and they were all, mainly good payers.
Then sis in law started missing payments,so i did the odd one, when it got past 2 months missed,i didnt send hers in.I got letters,so i then phoned them up to explain she was not paying me.Sis in law owed 3000k!
I handed over the account to F and they took it over directly with her and i never heard owt about it again.I dont know if she actually paid it or not.You just lose any possible future commission thats all.
Then it happened again with a girl at work, she had trouble wit the £1000 tv dvd set and they did mess her about a bit,but her hubby refused to pay for months until sorted, again i called F and asked if they would deal directly with them, and they did.She has paid most of it,they disagree on last payment of £36!
You must stop paying it for them, and call L now saying you wish to "hand over the management of their account" to the directly.
This is assuming you have separate numbered accounts for each customer, and that you didnt foolishly just add it to your personal account!

I have an account with one of the Littlewoods group catalogues, and as far as I can tell, you will be responsible, because they do not ask for your customer's details, and the amount spent comes off your credit... I believe you are acting as the agent, therefore it is your responsibility to recover any monies owed.

Was the stuff delivered to your house..?. If not and it was delivered to theirs that maybe one avenue of proving they had the goods.
