We are just about all sorted for our July wedding, everything we need to do now hinges on the number of guests etc, things like confirming the buffet with the venue, buying the fizz etc etc....
And there in lies the problem, invites were sent out about 3 weeks or so ago, we didn;t put an RSVP date on them, however we did include RSVP cards and stamped addressed envelopes, so all people had to do was write their name on the card, put it back in the envelope and put in a post box. Simple yes?
So why haven't people still not responded? Grr! I don't like chasing, but I have done today, I would love to have final numbers for the weekend so I can go and see the planner at the venue, but I am not holding my breath!

I completely agree! With me I get that busy in the afternoon that when I open post I set it aside and say to myself "right Ill do that later" and of course a week later when Im tidying up I come across all the paper work!
But given that your wedding is so soon perhaps people should start replying, if its getting closer and closer to the time why not give them a quick call explain you need numbers. This had happend recently with a friend of my mums, she had got married privately (just her and her husband) and held a party afterwards - no one even knew they were getting married beforehand!!
She ended up phoning every one on the list for the party to confirm numbers cos not everyone had got back to her so I guess its not uncommon.
Good luck, I hope you get sortedLife is what you make it.0 -
Not sure you'll want to hear this one, but I wouldn't be expecting rsvp's back this early yet (might just be me though). I'm not even sending my invites til 3 months before, so I guess I'm expecting rsvp's about 4 weeks before. It may well be even later, so I expect we'll provide a best guess (on the lower side) if we need to advise 4 weeks before and then we can always add the week or two before once we have exact numbers.
Also, be prepared that people don't always send back to rsvp. Some people will simply tell you they're coming as for some, it's a bit old fashioned......Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
If you didn't put an 'RSVP by....' people will think they have plenty of time to reply for a July wedding.
Most people send their invitations out 2-3 months before with an RSVP date of 4-6 weeks before the date depending on when the venue needs final numbers, so your guests will still think they have a few weeks to reply. Even so, you would still be chasing replies, there are always a few who for one reason or another don't RSVP and have to be followed up.
I agree, it's frustrating but nothing new!0 -

The vast majority have come back, only waiting on less than 10, but its still stalling the rest of the plans!
I have sent a chaser message round this morning, I think some of the ones who haven't responded simply don't want to tell me they aren't coming to be honest.0 -
I put a rsvp date of 8th may but still have many that have not replied, and I even stamped the reply cards for the ones who lived far away! The annoying thing is that most of them are family! I now have a list of people to phone over the weekend.
This happened on my first wedding so not sure why I am so surprised!!😁0
