Tax refund help

in Cutting tax
Hi, was wondering the best way to claim overpaid tax for 2008/2009, my situation is as follows.
Was made redundant last year, received my P45 and handed it in to Job Centre. Claimed JSA (Contributions based). I then started a Training For Work programme, which I am still on. I now receive a 'Training Allowance' instead of JSA but this is still paid by DWP.
When I started my Training for Work programme, I received a P45U, which showed 'Taxable Benefits to date' but did not show my income from my employment for this tax year.
As I am not on JSA, who will issue a P60 to me? Can I claim a Tax Refund without it? I have my last pay slip which shows Taxable pay and Tax paid, and I'm estimating that I shoud be due about £1200.
Any help or advice on the matter would be appreciated.

On the p45U it will have a taxable benefits paid figure. You need to add this to your earnings from employment previously and the income you have received from your training in the relevant tax year.
I am fairly sure that all these count as taxable earnings so I am assuming you need to add them together.
Take careful note of whether they are using cumulative figures (eg if any paylips from your training also include in earnings year to date the figures from your JSA or if each are independent)
Once you've got your total earnings, also from the same sources have a look at your total tax paid.
Then take a look at the hmrc website for tax allowances and rates and see if you have indeed overpaid tax.
If you have overpaid, then just write to your tax office with copies of your p45 from job, copies of the benefits summary and confirmation of your earnings from training and they will sort it out from there.Indecision is the key to flexibility
