Looking for somewhere nice to stay near Stranraer
Hello all you Scottish lads and lassies.:D
I'm planning on a wee break to Scotland and will be taking the car from Larne-Stranraer. I would like to find somewhere nice and quaint to stay in the Ayrshire/Drumfries & Galloway regions. Preferably as near Stranraer as possible.
It doesn't matter whether it's B&B/Guest house or Hotel. Nothing fancy, cheap, clean and good traditional food. Possibly a sea view or perhaps in a quaint wee village. Any ideas or recommendations?

Can't suggest specifically a hotel but I'd look at Portpatrick.

Thankyou Ebinburghlass, Portpatrick looks a lovely wee place with good restaurants.0

I've found a hotel in Portpatrick which gives superb offers on the ferry Belfast-Stranraer. The Crown Hotel is charging me £75 return on the ferry, while going through Stena line themselves would be £183. That's some saving:D
The online reviews for the Crown seem to be mixed and I was wondering if anyone has stayed there and can tell what their own experiences where like.0 -
If you fancy caravan/mobile home try Kippford. http://www.kippfordholidaypark.co.uk there are also other parks nearby too. Lovely small village, couple of pubs, sailing boats, nice walks on shore. Close to Dalbeattie and Castle Douglas where there are some very good local shops.0

Cheers wallace, Kippford holiday park seems ideal for self catering with towns close by. The pine lodges look superb.0
