£180 worth of charges despite payments made.
I am wondering if there is anything I can do regarding several charges received on a cahoot flexible loan. Since september last year I have had a £30 charge put onto the account each month due to a direct debit not being in place (an innocent mistake).
I have exceeded the minimum payment each month, on time, by paying directly from my bank account. The direct debit got cancelled by mistake but I thought that while I was trying to get on track with my debts I would postpone it being re-instated so that I could choose what I wanted to pay each month - hence the 'over payments'. I did not realise that there was a charge for not having a direct debit in place, afterall I was still making the payments.
After several phonecalls it has been pointed out to me that it is in the TOCs that a direct debit must be in place. It makes me feel sick that I have £180 worth of charges when I have been making the payments each month... often running into hundreds of pounds when the minimum was only £65!!
Do any of you peeps have any advice on this? Do I have a leg to stand on?
Thank Tracey

When you took out the loan did you not sign a direct debit mandate?
If not and this term is in the T&C I don't see that you have much of a leg to stand on.0 -
You failed to comply with the T&Cs of the agreement you signed, therefore they are entitled to charge you as per what you agreed.0
