Will someone give me and my partner a mortgage

Hi my name is Gemma.

My and my partner want to go in for a mortgage together, we are not married.

He has got a perfect credit history and has never had any late payments.
I on the other hand was a little silly when i was 18 (now 21) and got my self in a few debt problems, which only total £1250 i am starting to pay them off now by direct but i am scared that i wont be able to get a mortgage because of this.

Can anyone help? or does anyone know companies that will give people like me a chance with a mortgage with the fact that my partner has a totally perfect credit history?

Please help me i really want this.

Thanks in advance
Gemma

No, don't just apply. Get copies of your credit report first of all from creditexpert.co.uk and equifax.co.uk, both offer free trials I think. Just make sure you cancel :)

Then seek advice from an independent advisor.

If you have a debt you're paying off, then I'd wonder where your deposit is coming from.

Hi I was in the same boat - but in reverse. We spoke to a broker based in swindon (mortgageforce) and he sorted us out. Apparently he's the top broker in the franchise this year. I cant remember his number but you can find him on the web. His name was Fiaz Merali.
Go for it - there are many others getting a mortgage in worse straits than you!

Let me guess, he is the one you work for!?

GemJams - did the debts go a couple of months behind, to default, or to one or more county court judgements?

How big a deposit can you and your partner put down as a percentage of the purchase price?

re mortgageforce, this is from their disclosure on the website re fees; which means that the "average" fee they charge is £715 so obviously they have quite a few "franchisees" who like to put a little extra into the deal for themselves ("little"???).

    The precise
amount, if any, may well depend upon your circumstances but where a charge is to be made, past
fees charged typically amount to approximately £715.00. You will receive a Key Facts Illustration, which
will tell you about any fees charged by a Mortgage Force consultant relating to a particular mortgage.

    Happily an ex mortgage broker!

Hi Gemma & welcome to MSE.
First things first - do you have a deposit saved up, and if so, how much?

Me and by partner both have a deposit of around 10% saved up...

but we was hoping that if we got a mortgage then we would be able to try and get the homebuy goverment scheme?
