I'm looking or some bog standard but reliabale DVDs to buy in 25s or 50s. I usually use Imations which I find very reliable.
Are any of the cheapest SVP disks (e.g. Datawrite Red) recommended / to be avoided ?
Any cheaper source fo this on the basis of 99p postage at SVP ?0 -
I have been using Datawrite Yellow (8x) DVD-R . Up till now I have not had any failures in over 100 burns. These are £7.68 for 50.0

HP branded are excellent, with most of the other 'budget' DVDs you take a chance on the "dye code" that you will receive. CMC Mag AE1 (in my opinion) is the best dye for under 20p.
RITEK G05 also used to be quite good but is now quite poor quality

I bought this last week and would recomend it to anyone who has a spare ide hard drive. It does not have a noisy fan, as it is metal so the heat from the hard drive dissipates through the case.

Only £16.64
I use the Optima Blue disks and have not had a problem with them using multiple burners.

If anyone wants to get additional discount at SVP, register at www.thedvdforums.com and have a look in the SVP discussion forum for further details.
Just as an example, this discount would reduce the Jet Tec E92 Epson Compatible Cartridge Multipack from £17.48 to £15.70.A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.0 -

Presumably this would work with any old (3.5") hard drive ripped out of a redundant machine ? Does it need any sort of power supply or is it powered off the USB port ?0 -
Not working for me
"Quantity of product(s) in promotion not in cart."

Yes, this will work with any 3.5" drive. It is powered by a power supply.
Only 2.5" drives, commonly known as laptop drives, are powered by the usb port. You can also buy an enclosure from SVP for them as well for about a tenner.0 -
