Wilkinson's bargains...some at 75% off

Just a few things I spotted in Wilkos, Ramsgate today. Thought it was worth mentioning for the energy monitor!

plug in energy monitor (the type you plug an item into, not the owl type) was £8.99, now 75% off. My maths makes that about £2.25! :j

I picked up a large silky teal lightshade for dd's room, down from £6 to £1.50

There were various other lamps, pics etc reduced, a few things at 75% but I think the energy monitor is the bargain of the week. :T

I did mention about these a week or so ago and bought one at the time and gave it away. Bought one for myself today and the thing does not work. Battery was going green and is too loose. So I either get nothing on the screen or lots of flashes

If you buy these then go for the ones with the green stickers as these are newer and don't have the battery problems. If you buy the ones without the stickers then you just need to scrape the blue crap off the batteries, then scrape the metal contacts inside so they're clean aswell. I've bought about 25 so far and I've fixed the ones that don't turn on in this way.

Think I have older version you where right there was blue crap everywhere but the contact inside was not really touching the battery. Changed it over of the last one in the shop. Will try again tonight and then done rubber gloves to sort it out if it is covered in rubbish.

They've got plenty of the full size energy monitors (the ones that go round your mains cables NOT the plugs) in wilkos in Chelmsford at the moment that monitor your whole house - £6.25 (down from £25)

  • Some of the mains electricity monitors in Wilkinsons in Stockton too - been looking at getting an OWL, but I thought I'd try this one for £6.25!

Also some energy saving extension leads in too - there are 3 'slave', 1 'master' and one other 'master'. Basically you plug your telly into a master, and your dvd/vcr/xbox etc into the slaves and when you switch off your telly, the power is cut to the slave sockets - then the second master socket is for items that need power all the time - e.g. your sky plus box.
Again, these have 75% off, so for £3.75 I'd thought I'd try it, as the wall switch for the TV downstairs is now behind a huge billy bookcase....

I think more people would use these things if the normal prices were like this - OWLs are about £35-£40
