Tesco's give vouchers, Sainsbury's doesn't!

Right, for over 25 years I have been giving my custom freely to Sainsbury's.
Lately I have been doing small shops at Tesco's due to their policy of accepting MOC's.
Tesco's have started giving out coupon's to me at the till for money off shop's(£5 off £50 and various £1 or £2 off each dept).
When I did my main shop at Sainsbury's they offered me a - wait for it - 50% off a cafe meal???????????
I went to CS and asked politely why Tesco's gave me money off shopping coupon's and they only gave me money off for a cafe I don't use and they seemed quite hurt, saying that a lot of customers thought it was a very good offer and came for a meal every time they did their shopping!
I personally think that Sainsbury's after 25 years should be doing more to keep my custom, what do you all think?

Sainsbury's do give money off though - they are always sending us vouchers through the post - the last lot were a set of vouchers for £4 off a £40 shop for each week in March. They also send lots of specific product group vouchers e.g. x amount off when you spend £2 on milk or yogurt. I've no idea how I got on the list to receive them, maybe through the Nectar card or through signing up to something? they send a magazine too so it might be linked ot that.0

I get the small ones for 50p off if you spend on veg or dairy or bakery ones, but I haven't had a money off £50 shop for a very long time(at least 10 or so years).
When I asked why all they would say was that it was "random".
I tried the 0800 CS number, the poor girl on there could only say that allocation of vouchers was "random", to be fair she did gave me a £5 voucher as a good will gesture.
I told the girl at CS that I would be shopping at Tesco's til they stopped giving me money off shops."Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

My guess is that they must be to get you into the shop, or if you are a regular they try to increase your spend. We get similar vouchers from Sainsbury's, Tesco, M&S and Waitrose - I shop at whichever has sent the vouchers. I've noticed a few times that if I use all the vouchers they then increase the amount e.g. Tesco sent a series for £2 off £20 spends, after that the sent a series of £4 off £40 spends. As I tend to shop on foot I buy little and often but the vouchers tend to require a spend of slightly over the amount we normally spend.0

We shop online with Sainsburys and the last 2 orders we have made we used a £15 off £70 e-voucher they sent us by email. When you consider that on our 'shop' (according to mysupermarket) Sainsburys are usually at least 25% cheaper than Asda or Tesco, we certainly aint complaining about Sainsbug's 'generosity'....;)Call me Carmine....

I don't understand why we don't get them from Sainsbury's at all then!
Maybe if I do most of my shopping with Mr T instead they will get the wind up and start trying to keep me.
Years ago we did used to get the money off ones, they used to come as a block of 6, but it must be at least 15 years since we had this sort of voucher and all customer service will say is that it's random,
I love Sainsbury's products, but as I said til Tesco's stop giving me vouchers they now have my main shop.
Thank you for your replies, it's interesting to know that these money off shop coupon's are still out there for Sainsbury's it's just a mystery as to why I don't get them."Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

I don't get anything from Sainsburys either. Shop equally from them and Tesco - one week one, one week the other. There used to be Sainsburys codes on this site a few years ago but they stopped them because people were taking the !!!! and I've not seen any since. We’ve had to remove your signature. Sainsburys vouchers are sent through Nectar so make sure your preferences on your Nectar account allow companies to send you offers otherwise they won't send you the vouchers. Even if you get the Nectar points statement ones the additional ones like £5 off £50 or Double/Triple points will only be sent to you if you have opted in to marketing.0

I always prefered Tesco's to Sainsbury's. I do think that Sainsbury's are nowhere near generous as other supermarkets.
Our local Sainsbury's is also disgusting. My sister shops on-line and is a member of Nectar and doesn't even remember when she got money off shopping.
They just built new Tesco near her house and she said she is now going to shop there.
I love collecting points. It adds a bit of fun to otherwise stereotype task..0 -

Like I said earlier, our last 2 shops we used £15 off vouchers that Sainsburys emailed. I think the 'art' is to miss a week every now and then, that's what we have done and we invariably have been sent an e-voucher.
