club card points. What do they tell them

I was wandering the other day that when i get my Tesco club card points for shopping at said store the checkout person scans the bar code on my keyring club card.
About a month ago i have been doing a lot of my shopping such as food at a local family run butchers/fruit and veg large store. The value for money in the taste of the meat which is locally produced tastes far better than Tesco's meat which seems to be pumped up with water. So does the fruit and veg.
I have also been getting a lot of cleaning products such as bin liners, dish washer tablets, shampoo's etc from Netto because they are cheaper than Tesco.
Anyway back to my point.Since my cut down at Tesco's i have had some e-mails about double points or free home delivery. So does this mean that when your key ring is bar coded it Tell's Tesco who you are what you buy each week and when it detects a drop in your spend at the store it gets in touch with you offering these free b's.
