How long do I have in this tax year?

Hello,
The tax year ends 5 Apr 2006. After months of putting it off, I fully intend to sort out my finances and set up a stakeholder pension and cash ISA.
Am in the process of researching all that but don't want to run out of time.
Can anyone advise what is the latest date I can apply for a stakeholder pension and cash ISA in this tax year.
If for example, I send off an application form and cheque postmarked April 5 5pm, and the provider doesn't process it until two weeks later, would I have lost out on this tax year's tax relief?
Any sites anyone can recommend with "financial planning for idiots"-type guidance would be welcome.
Thanks

Unless you are going to contribute more than 215,000 or 100% of your earnings in the next 12 months, I wouldnt worry about the stakeholder.
The ISA needs to be with the provider on or before 5th April. Some providers will accept post dated cheques, others will not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
