Ahh ok Chewy.
Even so though, I doubt you regret not having held out for a higher offer on for your superior house, garden and double-garage, in that area, using their purchase in comparison.
Do I believe this story about the couple buying at the Summer 2008 time, and for that price, as in the article and the video? That is the reason I was searching houseprices.co.uk and trying to find anything that sold around the £350K mark for that area, in 2008 - confirming potential matches with a visual from Streetview. Couldn't find it.0 -

of course i don't regret it - took the first offer, which was £20k below asking, and contracts were exchanged less than a month after the house went on the market.
strange their sold price doesn't appear. perhaps some journalistic licence...0 -

We had to produce receipts for our shopping for a year beforehand to prove that we were only shopping for ourselves, and not each other. Cooking for each other would have meant that the marriage was still working!! (and the arsnic that I was hiding in the lasagne in didnt give the game away:rotfl::rotfl:).
The fact that you instituted divorce proceedings would on its own indicate at least a cooling in the relationship, surely? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
there were other reasons, but went through the no-fault route as its no one elses (ie family historians in the future) business but ours!
We had to prove that we were living apart in the same house for 2 years - but the reason behind the divorce was something else.
Having said that, it was amicable, but have had no contact with each other since the decree absolute!0 -
Bought for £350K, with £100K put down by his Mummy.
If they sold now at £280K (possible, I've checked the area on Rightmove), they could pay off the mortgage debt back to the lender.
£30K left over. Maybe give her a £10K, or even £15K sweetener to agree to it without hassle, and part ways when sold. Both £15K left over, for the good plan outlined by Lizzie.
As it is, they are separated, living in the same house, and both hopelessly expecting house values to rise, and not to plummet by a further 50% or more.
But wasn't said on the programme? Pure speculation -
(a) loan is interest only - hence how they got £250k
(b) mortgage has early redemption penalty
(c) house is rapidly heading towards £250k , threshold for 3% stamp duty. So I would guess house is on market at £280k not necessarily its market valuation.
(d) Mother believes market will recover.0
