Putting someone else on mortgage instead

hi basically i did another thread last week about letting my friend have the other half off the house so i could move in to a new home with my girlfriend but was thinking i could realistically afford to mortgage both homes could i put my mothers name on the mortgage at my current address and take my name off it so i can get a mortgage with my girlfriend.My mother is on the same wage i am on £25k so no problem there but would about her credit rating would that be a problem as she has had a bad past but most of them were 10+ years ago.
