Lightbulb moment = when you realise that the money you don't have won't cover the repayments on the money that wasn't yours in the first place.
It's all about change, commitment, resolve and liberation.Budget: a mathematical confirmation of your suspicions. A.A. Latimer
Debt Jan 06: £103,000
Current: £99,000
Debt-free date: 2465 (give or take a century)
Current homemade banana bread status: 2 slices left
Current statement/letter stack: 8.6 inches
The real measure of your wealth is how much you'd be worth if you lost all your money

It's the realisation that the time has come to change your spending habits and get rid of the debt, not by consolidating but by actually paying it off and stopping spending more than you have. DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

The night when you lie awake sweating and wondering how you're going to eat this month when your salary goes in and your account is still over the overdraft limit!

Hahaha... very true.
So the next questions are...
"When was it's first occurrence?" and "Who came up with it in the first place?"
Was it Martin or another MSE contributor (like us)? Whoever it was... and whenever it was... we owe them a debt of gratitude (no pun intended)

The day you realise that all those small amounts you have fritted away matter. Also the day that you realise that things are not going to sort themselves out.

for me its that realisation I was drowning in debt and robbing peter to pay paul is no longer an option. And also thinking about all the money Ive given to the banks over the years in interest & charges, and saying NO MORE for yu MR fat cat, its my turn now. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

My personal view of when the lightbulb moment occurs is that short space of time between you picking up a statement then hurling a string of expletives at it.0
