Debt free I think?

Had a letter from mackenzie hall this week, so asked for a full and final settlement, I got 20% off. Have just checked my credit report and the debt I owed was to 1st credit limited.

Do you think that this mackenzie hall have taken the money off me illegally? If so how can I get it back and pay the right people?[/FONT]

Mackenzie Hall and 1st credit inhabit the same slimy underworld of debt collection and both have been reprimanded by the OFT recently.

MH would have been collecting for 1st credit and both are now probably rubbing their hands with glee that another punter has paid 80% of a dodgy debt that they paid peanuts for.

If you had said 'this wasn't my debt', I would have sugested a court claim but you are saying 'this was my debt'.

Your credit entry should be changed to 'settled' or maybe 'partially settled' - chase it up if that doesn't happen.
