In its Quarterly Inflation Report, the Bank forecast that gross domestic product will continue to shrink on an annual basis for the rest of 2009 before growth begins to recover next year. The Bank added that it expects inflation to slow to just 0.4pc this year.
The economy faces ``a relatively slow recovery in economic activity,'' the Report said, adding that the economy remains "vulnerable to further shocks.''
