Footstool cover?

Hi,
Am in the middle of a DIY/decorating extravaganza at the moment (yey) and have found a lovely dressing table and stool up the stairs (we have a third floor of the house that never gets used so am sorting it out for me and my partner to take it over rather than be cramped into a room less than half the size on the mid floor) anyway... before I continue rambling the stool has an old leather covering but is past its best. I was hoping to sew up a cover that I could slip on and off but not sure how exactly to go about it.
(Am good with a sewing machine but don't do it enough to be great at coming up with the solutions lol)

It's hard to advise without seeing the footstool and I'm no expert but if you want something you can slipon/off I'd suggest making something like a big shower cap. Otherwise you'd be into reupholstery. HTH

The cushion bit of it is basically a rectangle
Was thinking I could maybe do something that would cover the top and the sides and maybe have a bit of elastic or a tie (almost like an ironing board cover lol) that would go underneath to keep it in place

    Is it a drop-in seat?
If so, just a piece of fabric wrapped round tightly and pinned on the back, then drop the seat back. Easy to remove for washing too!

Dh recovered our stool by putting fabric over it and fastening it with a staple gun.

I would take the leather off completely because any material put on top will just slip and slide, Just recover completely in a good heavy weight fabric and staple it on like THIRZAH's Dh did.
The added bonus is that you can have exactly what you want and can always ring the changes if you want a different style
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
