chocolate frosting

Options
anyone know how to make a chocolate frosting using chocolate and other ingredients to make a frosting that can be used hours later for decorating a cake and eaten soon after without setting - i need the idea for a fair trade childrens party we are doing at church on sunday - but want to do my prep beforehand but get the decorating done by the kids just before eating.

any help apreciated:j

    Hi Sillyvixen
Don't know whether this is any help to you, it uses cocoa though rather than chocolate. To make a fudgy type icing which doesn't need to be left to set, I melt about 1oz margarine or butter (stork usually) in the microwave for about 30 secs along with 2 or 3 teaspoons of milk. Then I beat in a table spoon of cocoa and enough icing sugar to make a thick fudgy icing. Sorry to be so vague about the quantities but I adapted it from another recipe so just tend to throw in a bit of this and that until it is how I want it. You can add a little vanilla which helps the flavour, or more cocoa to make it more chocolatey. This will make enough to thickly cover the top of a 7 inch cake so it would do quite a few small cakes if that is what you are making. Looks good just swirled over the top, or you can decorate with flake, chocolate buttons etc.
    Hope this helps.
