I'd imagine it's a con. Unsolicited contact, and asking for an upfront payment from you... sounds very fishy to me!

this scam has been around for years, and now and again it rears its ugly head.
Dont touch it with a bargepole. Send them a few unstamped envelopes, that'll teach em, if a few thousand of us did it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Too good to be true, sadly: 2 envelopes stuffed/minute would be more than £130/hr! If they were paying so much, we'd all be doing it (and, with such a high turnover, why would they bother with a £30 fee?)

By the way, when I had a job stuffing and opening envelopes years ago, it paid about minimum wage. Sadly, I think pay for envelope stuffing remains low :(

Stuffing tends to be around £10 - £20/1000.

Its a scam - no company will pay £1+ for an outworker to stuff envelopes.

Who put the letter you got in the envelope it came in? Do you really think someone paid them £1.10 to do it? Only lawyers charge that much to put a letter in an envelope and get away with it!!
Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!

Of course it's a scam. You stuff envelopes with information on how to make £1.50/envelope stuffed and send it to some other poor person who has sent you £1.50 to find out how to make £1.50/envelope stuffing envelopes!

Organisations which really want envelopes stuffed will have their own machines which do this. Or, if they don't do it very often but have a lot at one time for a mailing, they will use a printer to do it using one of the printer's machines.
  • There used to be but not working from home! When I was at university, there was a marketing company on an industrial estate near where I lived which employed about 30 people putting together mailing packs for various companies - it was piece work, and not much money(averaged £1-3, per 100 envelopes IIRC) but it was just something I did for the summer holidays - but this was about 16 years ago.
But AFAIK, none where you can work from home!

I'm sure it would be worth ringing or visiting small printing companies and advertising yourself for stuffing envelopes, collating and similar work. There would be nothing lost in trying.......
