they do some great products!!
Not tried the primer.
I've tried the Gosh, Avon & Benefit primers, I'm not crazy on any of them. I must try Smashboxes one. Is there only one? Photo Finish is it?0 -
I bought this from the same seller a couple of weeks ago (at £6.50 a bottle so your bargain is great!). I thought I'd add my thoughts after using it for a few weeks...
I usually use DHC as I just haven't gotten on with traditional OCM - but at £16 a bottle I was on the hunt for something cheaper when I saw the Smashbox on eBay.
It's a huge bottle in comparison to most branded Cleansing Oils and is definitely thinner and lighter so a little really goes a long way - super bargain! It doesn't cause me any sensitivity - even practically rubbing it into my eyes (and I often react to stuff) and removes everything perfectly - so far top marks...
But...
It doesn't emulsify well with the water (like my DHC did), the stuff sticks to my face cloth like tar no matter how many times I rinse in hot soapy water. Which means that even after washing my face with my fav mild soap I can still feel the oil on my skin thanks to it transferring back from my face cloth. I also have to clean the sink everytime I wash my face as it leaves a ring of make up on the sink - not a problem - infact it's quite satisfying in a sunburn-peeling kinda way :rotfl:, but worth mentioning!
This 'problem' as I see it might not bother you if you're used to the traditional OCM, but if you're prone to breakouts - be extra super vigilant making sure your skin is free from the product after cleansing.
Anyway, sorry for the huge post! And if any of you OCM experts have any tips for me to help overcome this, I'm all ears! But don't say toner 'cos I haven't found one I can afford that doesn't make my cheeks feel like they're on fire!don't blow out other people's candles to make your own burn brighter...0 -

Liz Earle toner, in the SPRAY BOTTLE, not cheap to buy, but will prob last you 6-12 months;)
I know what you mean about firey cheeks, thats why I like the gentle LE.0 -
i had a free sample of the RMK oil cleanser last year and it was absolutely great - then i saw the price and OCM homemade works for me! interesting to hear about smashbox though...
as far as a cheap toner goes, simple works for me - cheap, non-alcoholic and no perfume... might be worth a go (i only ever buy it on special offer but boots seem to have a lot of them atm!):happyhear0 -
Was me
And I buy off QVC or ebay

Yes its photofinish however they do it for different skin types etc:
They do a Light one- for Oily skin
Normal one
Bronzer one- its just a tint of bronzer in the primer ( the bottle makes it look very dark but its not at all)
It does a great job of filling in any lines too!!New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.
No place in the world that can compare ♥ 2nd October 2010 ♥0 -

its a GEL. I have a wee palette of loads of different colours like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SMASHBOX-Proof-Cream-Eyeliner-Palette-10-SHADES-NEW_W0QQitemZ380121847589QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item380121847589&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
The palette it really tiny btw - not much bigger then a credit card and not much thicker but the colours do last a long time. I like the brush best in that. being as blind as a bat means I can can just jab a line along
Opps - dont know how to do wee links - perhaps a guide can edit this?0 -
Just a heads up, Smashbox stopped making the skincare range a few years ago. So that will be quite old stock, so just becareful.
I love Smashbox, we have it in the House of Fraser Belfast but the latest stuff always arrives at Just Beauty Direct website. Jayne is fabulous and great CS too.
There is a QVC TSV for Smashbox this coming Wednesday 13th if anyone is interested.
If you like the oil cleansing method then you can actually use Virgin Olive Oil as a cleanser or mix with a small amount of castor oil too. Just massage on face and then rinse with warm water and then cold, or use a muslin cloth.0 -
Just an update on the Smashbox oil.
Despite reading Donna's warning ( heeded and I know the oil is discontinued, although you can still find it on certain sites which are very expensive) I tried the oil last night instead of the C&P.
I'm impressed, Mrs E. It completely removed my mascara, although I noticed there were tiny clumps of black on the muslin cloth. My skin ( mature dry ) felt lovely and smooth and didn't feel 'tight' at all. Then continued to use rose water as toner and LE moisturiser. Fantastic!
Special thanks to Mrs E.
Debated about buying another bottle, but it should last me ages as I'm going to continue to use C&P am and the oil pm.Also succumbed to purchasing C&P via QVC this time instead of LE's site as they had it on two payments. Costs slightly more, but I'm broke at the moment.
Will keep everyone updated to see how the oil performs over the next week or so.
On the subject of toner.
I have used rose water for years and years. It can be bought very cheaply on ebay. Think I got some for £3.50...300ml and you can buy it from this site...

Perhaps I should start another thread, but I was wondering which moisturiser is good for mature skin. I'm not over struck on LE. Both of them.
Been thinking of using Ponds next. But just can't decide.Perhaps MAC?
Sorry won't use Nivea, Garnier et al.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.0 -
Glad it worked well for you.
I love the hot cloth creamy type of products (LE, Sanctury, etc) but I don't think they are strong enough to remove full make up.
I too use oil in the evening & sanctuary in the morning.0
