Videographer Question

Having just re-read our T+C's for wedding DVD I have just noticed a bit that I had previously not seen.
"Please make arrangements with the reception venue to supply a snack and refreshments for the Specialmoments staff attending your wedding"
Does this mean that we have to pay for it or just ensure that there are facilities for them to get something to eat and drink? I'll be a bit miffed if we have to pay to feed them! Nobody pays for me to get fed at my work!

This has come up before on here with regards to photographers (there was a whole thread on it but I cant find it but it must have bneen in the last few months as I only started coming on this board at the end of Feb) and its apparently a fairly standard clause. All you have to get them is a pint of coke and a sandwich.0

well my videographer was a guest at my wedding as he is also my godfather but i did provide food for the photographer, the venue did charge me but i didnt care, i would prefer to spend a few quid on feeding them so they are happy and not working on an empty stomach0

I just don't get why they would expect you to have to feed them? I have to feed myself at my work and I don't get paid £125 an hour!0

Well, in principle I agree with you, they're getting paid enough.. but if its in the contract.. what can you do?

You could always make him up a wee pack lunch - a dairelee lunchables, a mars bar, and apple and a can of coke or summat... there's nothing to say what that lunch should look like.
Aha! Here it is http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1481359&highlight=photographer+feed0 -

Thanks! I know what you mean about the contract, I can't do anything about it! Just annoyed that I never seen it first time around and now it's too late to do anything about it.
Mention the word wedding and people think they've got the right to take the p1ss out of you! :mad:0 -

Why can't they be responsible for feeding themselves? They're grown up's!!!! If they want to work on an empty somach then that's up to them but it shouldn't be the responsibility of the bride and groom to feed them. Just my opinion!0 -
I have this problem with my photographer (on the other thread!!!)
I am in agreement with you that it is cheeky to expect to be feed but quite a few people on here do not agree and think we are being mean!
But I do not get my lunch given to me when I go to work, like you say, mention the word wedding and people go mad don't they!!!
I am going to arrange just a sandwich for my photographer and if people still think I am being tight, I really don't care, lol!!!!!!0 -
In all seriousness on topic, can he not pack his own lunch!!
Tell you what, while I'm making dresses I'll charge out for tea at the Ritz.
What happens if The special moments bring an entourage??? Maybe give them a call and ask exactly what they are expecting to be given. Couple of bottles of water and some house nuts!0 -

I would not ask them what they want.
Just get the place to put out an egg sandwich and a glass of tap water.
That would fulfil your part of the contract.
I know it seems to be common for this to happen but I do think these people are taking the p!ss0 -
I would contact them and ask how big they expect their entourage to be (to me an entourage means more than 2 people, its usually several). I have spoken to several companies within the trade and they have all told me that they take their own lunch and certainly wouldn't expect the bridal couple to pay - after all, they are being employed by you to take photographs and/or video your day therefore they should provide their own.0
