Court Summons

Hi Guys
I was having some money trouble and the Council issued a Court Summons for unpaid rent (I live in Scotland btw). Before the original court date I paid the whole rent account off, more than £800 in 1 month, it was a tight month that one! I spoke to them and they said that they would defer the case to see if I could save up the required amount in court fees.
What I'd like to know is, since the rent was settled before the the original court date (it's not due to call for another couple of weeks because they deferred it) and the summons was delivered by post not the Sheriffs Officer, why are they still taking this as far as court???? The insist they are no longer seeking to evict me, however I find it a little unfair that they are still looking for £300 court fees when it doesn't need to get that far. Surely they can just cancel the case?
They have there rent and this month's was paid on time and in advance.
Maybe I'm wrong so any help would be appreciated.

The problem is though, they've still had to issue to recover the rent, so they've still had to pay court fees. Even if it doesn't have to go to court, they've still had to pay..Smober since 05/12/2008 :j

That's fine, just wanted to make sure I wasn't being ripped off. Guess I'll just have to "suck it up" and pay it!

It's pants, isn't it? You manage to get it together for them and then you get that slapped on top. Someone else with a bit more knowledge may be able to suggest something? I'm not an expert by any stretch, but know that court fees have to be paid when proceedings are issued.Smober since 05/12/2008 :j
