Dress Colour Advice Needed!

I am getting my bridesmaids dresses and flowergirls dress from Milly but my own dress I am getting from Landy.

Milly only do white, ivory and champagne whereas Landy also do Light and Dark Ivory.

I was thinking about going for the light ivory for me but wondered what I should do about the flowergirls dress?

This is the dress I am getting made:

Although I haven't decided which bits will be pink and which will be ivory/white

These are my bridesmaids dresses:

Now, I was planning on getting the flowergirl dress done in the same colour as the BM's (obviously) and the rest of it in the same colour as mine (Ivory) but if I get mine done in the light ivory what should I do about the FG dress? Should I get it done in white or ivory

Also, which combination do you think would be nicer for the FG dress? As it is in the picture or all white/ivory with pink waistband and white/ivory flowers or pink waistband with pink flowers?

Sorry for the long windedness of it and I hope you understand what I mean!!!!!

Thank you in advance for your opinions!

Hi Nat. I think if you were having all the same flower girls and no adult in a block of colour, the picture with the coloured bodice would look lovely. However, the adult bridesmaids being in the block of colour would contrast perfectly with the flower girls in ivory with colour sashes and flowers. Sometimes, less is more for impact and sometimes, trying to bring in styles, colours etc can get a little messy. I once did an Ivory silk dress for a 4 year old. Similar style to those in the picture except the sash, covered buttons and piping at neckline (as she goes to check her photo!!) were in the colour. (May be a bit dated now!)

Thanks Linda! That dress is lovely! What do you think about the colour for the FG dress? White or Ivory? Or should I just get Ivory for me so we can be the same?

If you are in ivory then I wouldn't bring in another colour such as white. I think I would stick with ivory (you'd be surprised how "white" white is next to ivory) But, it's what you think. The men may very well be wearing white shirts but they will have very little showing if they are wearing suits, waistcoats, ties/cravats etc. Ivory shades can differ too but these won't be as noticeable as moving from white to ivory.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks! The men are wearing black shirts and their tartan for the kilts is plain black. The ties will be the same colour as the BM's. I'll have a wee think about it but I'll go for the ivory for FG dress. Prob just go for Ivory for mine as well! I like the champagne but it doesn't go with the fuchsia :(

Do you think the flowers on the FG dress should be pink or ivory if I'm gettin the pink waistband?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Hi Nat,

Both dresses are lovely – excellent choice. I think have your flower girl in Ivory rather than white. Ivory is a lot more flattering for your photos.

Can I be nosey and ask what style of wedding dress your going for? I just love anything wedding related at the moment J

Champagne is quite "yellow" and can play havoc with skin tone. Ivory suits most complexions. I'd be inclined to keep the flowers ivory and simply have the colour in the sashes. But, Nat, it's your day and as always, happy to help.

Oh Sabelle - wow! I've ordered Maggie Sottero Rhonda, got it at the preview weekend at Emma Roy in Feb. The only thing is because the new range isn't out yet there wont be a picture of it on the MS website till July. Seems ages away!

I think your dress will go really well with your bridesmaids and flower girl

I tried SaBelle on in Emma Roy last weekend! They offered me a good discount but not enough to convince me when I can get it for £160 from Landy!

£160, thats great, no I doubt any bridal shop would be able to match that. I wonder how much it costs the shops to buy the dress and just how much is their mark up. The cheapest place I have found for wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses is the marriage rooms in Bathgate. I bought my bridesmaids dress there and they gave it to me at cost price
