hello :hello:
whats the rule with defaults...
i had an account with avon last year which is in arrears only found out last month when i got credit file contacted them was told someone would ring me back...
basically they have my old address so i dont recievbe correspondence from them....
i am aware from another account that the tenant living in my old address had been sending my mail back not known at this address- fair enough
so avon would have known i didnt live there...
im on the electrol roll so can be easily located...
no demands no default notices nothing...
then today my equifax alerts me to a change saying they have defaulted the account!!!!!
can they do this
what do i do now????
thanks in advance

Sounds like you are stuck with a default I am afraid. You could phone Avon and explain the situation re the operation, but they will probably say that you should have at least notified them of a change of address. As far as I am aware, companies can lodge a default against a debtor at any point during the 6 years after the debt was created, if the funds are still outstanding.
Also, just to advise that defaults stay on your credit record for 6 years."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -
there isn't a lot you can do really you were probably notified at your previous address you could try ringing again see if that gets you anywhere!0

Yes indeedy unfortuantly.
you can always try calling or writing Avon with an explination and see if they will consider removing the default.
although I recently wrote to Capitol one asking/begging them to remove a default.
The wrote back politly telling me 'tough' its there for 6 years - no excuses.
worth a try maybe ?Debt at highest £16k+
Debt at lightbulb moment £14,800
Current debt £6336
Cleared £4206 in November 05 How ? Bye Bye PPI
