hi sorry for delay this is new to me, i had a vat inspection a few years ago and got a bill for it, i had an accountant who did my books for me, they then went threw the assessment and charged me the fees again without any outcome in my view. i then approached a new accountant who reduced the assessment, i cashed in a personal policy i had and paid the tax bill. i later sold my home moved into a rented house used what money i had to set up in a new business and closed the old business down and paid whatever bills i had from the old business which was trading at a loss !! old business was a catering franchise in a club}.the hmrc then up lifted my sa and made a new assessment giving me another bill, during this time my new accountant was putting my books in order which the hmrc was aware off but now they are threatening court action, the new business is going 2.6 years now the money introduced into it was all personal does this make any difference to sa, i dont get much income from it due to current finicial climate and bills and i really dont know where to turn now.

It sounds like determinations have been done (uplifted my SA).
The ONLY way to displace a determination is to put in the SA tax returns (which without them is why HMRC makes a determination) with the right answer (ie the loss)I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it, you can't prove a thing!
