Personally, I'd use them. Back in the old days we never used to keep them in the fridge, and I'm pretty sure they never used to say that they should be kept in the fridge.is it safe for me to use them for longer, i have got sauces in my cupboard from a year ago, bt i aint used them for about 10 months??Stompa0 -
I also live on my own and have never paid much attention to the "use in 4 weeks after opening" instruction. A bottle of ketchup could easily last me 4 months!
I only really refrigerate mayo (as it's got eggs in it) after opening, everything else is in the cupboard or on a shelf."Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

depends on how much I'm having it in my sandwiches! About 1-2 months on average for a regular sized jar"Who throws a shoe, honestly?"

Till they're used up! I admit I keep them in the fridge, but unless they are a year old, I won't throw them away!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Sauces used to have lots of preservatives in them, now they don't due to consumer pressure so that's why the labelling advises that the product is kept refrigerated.
However, due to the high sugar content the worst thing that could happen is that you'll get mould growth rather than bacteria growing.
Mayo on the other hand is a high risk food, as it's egg based and has the potential to cause food poisoning if it's not stored appropriately.0 -
Sauces like tomato ketchup contain a fair amount of vinegar, which is a pretty good preservative.nesssie1702 wrote: »Sauces used to have lots of preservatives in them, now they don't due to consumer pressure so that's why the labelling advises that the product is kept refrigerated.Stompa0
