My new life - Day Two

I'm really beginning to like this money saving lark!!!

I brought my lunch in again today (not v healthy - it was a pie) and it smelt so lovely everyone else sat around me was very jealous! I also bought crisps and a twix to stop me going to the vending machine. It worked a treat, but have eaten both already, so just have a yoghurt to get me through the afternoon - but that should be fine.

At lunchtime I went to the bank to get a min-statement (takes up a bit of time and means I get some fresh air) I thought I was making a big mistake by cutting through Boots on my way back - but it was a good move. I picked up a copy of their latest magazine (something to read later without buying an exoensive one! - does anyone know when other stores' mags are due out?)

Tonight I am having a night in with my dog. BF is working, so I'm having cheese omlette, salad and jacket potatoe for tea (already have all the stuff I need)

Tomorrow I'll bring lunch again and tomorrow evening I have been asked to go with a friend to the theatre - she has insisted she pays (I sometimes get free theatre tickets so I'll take her next time!) I told her about my new life - and she was great - soooo supportive. She's having a few personal problems herself so we agreed we would lean on each other.

On Saturday I'm judging a competition (for those who don't know I am a sports coach in my spare time) all day so that will stop me shopping! I will take my lunch and eat at home in the evening because I will be too tired to go out!

On Sunday BF is working so I will take my dog to the beach and then crack on decorating my spare bedroom. I am hoping the most it will cost is a little tin of paint as I have loads of wallpaper left from decorating my stairs last year and I've had it far too long to take it back to B&Q - the rest of the paint I already have from left overs in the garage and if I run out I'll raid my dad's and my brother's!

Bring on the week-end!!!!

Well done louise, it sounds as though you are doing really well!!

    Hey Louise30

Well done you on such a good day. We have been really bad this week and not brought in lunch from home once - slapped wrist.

The Debenhams mag is out at the moment (Technically it is only free with a nectar card but when I asked the sales lady today she just scanned it and said not to bother about card). There is a voucher for a free pot of tea or a cappuccino on page 6 as well so worth it just for that.

    Well done Louise,

You'll soon realise how addictive trying to save money is. If you want recipes etc, ASDA & Somerfield both have free monthly magazines (often with money odd coupons too).

I also read the newspapers we get at work wholst eating my "brought in form home" lunch!

Thanks for the tip about the tea voucher ! Might suggest a friend who I turned down lunch with - comes with me to Debs for a cuppa and a chat instead. I have just about every loyalty card going - so that's not a problem!!!!
I can't do the reading newspaper thing though - It's my job!!! and by lunchtime I am ready to scream at the sight of a paper!!!!!
Tomorrow I am going to pay my mam's M&S bill so that will give me something to do in tomorrow's lunchbreak! - anyone know of any bargains for doggies?

    Well done louise

Especially with those lunches, we dont realise how much can be spent on lunch per week..sometimes between £10-15.

    Keep it up :T

  • Well done, it sounds like you are really determinded, and having support from your friend (and here!) will make all the difference. :T

Superdrug used to do a magazine called Spirit - guess it was more of a promotional thing really, but not bad for free!

Keep up the good work xx

    Louise30,

I was in my local poundland last night (forgotten how much I loved that place as a student) and they have loads of dog toys/treats in there. (and for cats too)

Thought they were such bargains as you could get a pack of a few.
