They didn't used to, but that may now have changed. There have been some problems with electron/solo cards though:

An alternative is to use a prepaid visa card:

I have used my electron most places and occasionally it is turned down when internet shopping. odeon cinemas dont take it but apart from that it seems to be very acceptable0

I have used it everywhere and had no problems at all. Although I only dolimited online shopping. Thee is an issue with getting money to your accouint being quite slow though. Apparently If you order asda online, they take that sum, but if your shopping amount changes on day of delivery they do a new charge but takes time to refund the earlier incorrect charge. I cant afford to do that, so I just go myself. but i would like to get back to online shopping.
You have to start shopping with cash at the ready, then if card doesnt work you can pay. But once you get confident, with your ususal shopping routine, you will figure it all out.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

If you really have problems, then the Barclays Cashcard account now has a standard Visa debit card. Just got mine through.

But the Visa Electron will do most things.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
