VDU/Computer Glasses online ?

Hi, I have to wear distance and reading glasses but I find my reading glasses are not suitable for computer screen use, I need to place my head to near to the screen to focus. I have been told that I need intermediate glasses for VDU use.

Can any one tell me if I can order them from the presription supplied at my last eye test. The prescription only has distance values and an " add on " for reading. Is it a case of altering the " add on " value or do I need to have a re-test by my optician specifically for VDU glasses.

I am sitting here reading this courtesy of my new varifocals. They are a miracle of modern science and make things very easy. My prescription has an add on and varifocals are distance, intermediate, and reading.

If that is not an option, why don't you pop in to your local opticians and say you are looking for intermediate glasses and ask them to check if the prescription would be OK, or email one of the online companies and ask what they need for intermediate glasses? I have just checked on goggles4u.com and they have an intermediate use category, so it may be quite simple. If you want clarification an optician will be able to explain how they get to the intermediate bit I'm sure.

Try looking on Glasses Direct. They have all the info about ordering online and how to use your prescription. They also have a sale on at the moment!

The exact intermediate prescription that you will require will depend on several factors, including your age and your distance to screen. Best get it checked properly.
