Haven't been but it looks gorgeous congratulations & all the best did find some info here & here , have you got someone to marry you ( I mean a registrar , minister etc, not a partner I'm assuming you already have 1 of those or you really had better get cracking lol) as long as you can get someone to perform the ceremony you will be fine. Ok you don't have years to prepare, what that really means is you have less time to worry about it all, you will just get on with things & get it organised. How excited are you??

:D lol yes I have a partner! We've been together 10 years, so it's really about time! I am SOOOO excited....couldn't sleep last night.

Thanks so much for those reviews, they sound positive! Always a good sign :j

The registrar is available for us, the venue ensures that before they let us book, they assign us a wedding planner to help, so hopefully she'll be in touch today.

OMG, I've got a wedding to plan...!

Awww thank you :D I have had so much inspiration from this board!

We are on a very very tight budget and I'm trying to do most things myself to cut costs, and although I am not very arty/crafty, I hope everything will look a little bit decent.

I hope I'm not turning into Bridezilla! All I can think about is weddings! lol

    Congratulations Charlie.

You're not turning into a bridezilla - I know one of those..."oh we can't have canapes and if we do they will have to have half a slice of bread each", "no, I dont want that I want this..bla bla" all last minute and a right pain the butt:rolleyes:

My advice would be to rope friends & family in to help as much as possible! Make use of any talents/expertise/knowledge that they have.We had 2 sets of friends get married in 2007 for 1, we made their cupcake wedding cake (100 cupcakes! including some gluten/dairy free ones!) & as they were on a budget, we gave them it as our wedding present to them. The other couple, we went to stay with them for a weekend & set up a production line with them & the bride's sister putting the wedding invites together! It is really nice to be that involved in friends weddings - it made it much more than turning up on the day. Also use any social networking (such as facebook) to get help/discounts/ideas - my sister wanted to borrow some DIY equipment recently, put it on her facebook status & had someone lend her it the next day! Sometimes it's the ones you wouldn't think to ask.Lastly - keep posting here, I've picked up some great ideas on here & people are so helpful.Good Luck x

We are paying £4600 inc vat. However, this includes all 15 double bedrooms (inc bridal suite) and breakfast the next morning. Our guests will pay for their rooms at a discounted rate, so hopefully we will only end up paying £3000 ourselves for the following: (based on 60 guests)

Entire use of the castle and grounds exclusively
    Staff
Front of house manager to help organize things
3 course wedding breakfast (nice choice of meals too)
    30 Bottles of wine
One drink for each guest after ceremony
    Sparking wine for the speeches
    Disco
Hot and cold finger buffet during the evening party

I will have to pay for the registrar which I think is approx £300. There is a nice church right next door but we aren't religious so civil ceremony is fine with us.

The castle is lovely and I feel that we have got quite a good deal seeing as we booked for the 30th June which is peak season. I wanted a summer wedding but didn't think I could afford it. :j

Hope that helps, are you thinking of getting married here?

Oh thank you x It has been inspiring coming onto this wedding board!

I think I will take your advice and rope in as many friends as poss, we had lots of offers already. I have to keep reminding myself that once the day is over, it's done and so I need to keep a very tight grip on my budget. I can sooooo see how costs spiral though
