the short factual version..I had some arrears with the csa. I got a letter saying I owed £47,000 yes £47,000. My wife and I spilt up after we got this letter.(kids to previous partner)dispite the fact my kids are 18 and 20(and didnt stay in education after 16) the csa still haven,t ended my liability (my grandson is 2 years old and im still paying child support to his mother) its that silly.moved into rented accomadation gave the csa details of my income csa took £132.00 and left me with £150.00 a week to live on. my rent was £105.00 which left me with £45.00 per week to pay for food, gas, electricity, water rates, council tax(you dont qualify for discount you make to much) etc etc. I couldn,t afford to contibute towords the mortgage of my fomer home and my x wife to be fell into arears abandoned the property in dispair.I gave up my rented accom and moved back in there managed to get the re-possesion temp suspended got a settlement figure from the mortgage company tried to get a settlement figure from the csa debt had been recalculated debt was now approxamitly £8k. was going to waive all the equity in the property and set reserve at min. to pay csa balance and mortgage end of story...Unfortunatly csa still haven,t managed to come up with final figure after 3 mounths or managed to end my liabilty for my kids:T upshot of all this. baliffs come to evict me on the 20th off may. property reposesed, homeless, anyone got a room to rent.my oppolagize for the !!!! spelling

but i can't see why you loosing the houe is the fault of the CSA, your ex wife accured the arrears and walked away, did you tell the CSA that you gave up your rented accomodation and give them your new housing costs? Hit the snitch button!member #1 of the official warning clique.

We some year or so ago were in similar situation , out of blue received letter stating we owed 34k, CSA then went on to get LO, CCJ and more recently an application for charge on property.
Did you at any point ask for an account breakdown as to how these arrears had been calculated,, did you involve your local MP, instruct a solicitor such as James Pirrie or Stephen Lawson, or ask for Data Protection Files?
We have done this, and eventually got to bottom of our 'grossly incorrect' arrears, so now awaiting Tribunal date to supply all of our evidence. Bailiffs have been to our home,so I know where you are coming from, but now a week or 2 before eviction have you made any actions to challenge this?
I have spent every living breathing spare moment in my life for the past 12 months fighting the CSA against our similar situation, unfortunately if you do or have not they will take your home, have you considered Watchdog if you truly do not owe these monies - obviously different story i fthe figures are 100% accurate.
Others will advise better but you could have if they have CCJ on you applied and submitted a form - Blob will tell you which one - whereby the County Court set the payment schedule and not the CSA. There are options.

I'm just wondering why this huge amount has built up? Is this the first you have heard of maintenance owed and did you make any arrangements privately with yr children's mother when you split up? That sort of amount has obv built up over some time (I know from my own figures as a PWC that unless u are earning a fortune this is in excess of 5 yrs maintenance) so surely you must have known that you should have been paying towards the children.
Please tell me this is not a CSA request on TOP of what you were paying anyway??I am not a financial expert and I am not perfect but purrleeaassse don't be mean to me if I express an opinion that may not be quite what you thought.
