You mean I took my Cemap 3 exam right?

This is the synopsis exam correct? This exam actually tests your knowledge mainly in cemap 2! and one part module in cemap 1. People who take this exam forget one major thing! To study the synopsis questions provided!

IFS provide the questions beforehand and unfortunately many do not even read this.

The main reason why you did not pass is because you did not make mock exam questions from the synopsis questions provided. You need to bring yourself in the exam. Make predictions on the exam questions and work on this.

I did this and obtained a distinction.

practicing with the mock exams is by far the best way to do this, it brings you up to speed with how the questions are phrased more than anything which is the key to passing...keep trying.

I have to disagree with happy broker on the keep trying part.

Sorry, I may sound like im being nasty, but if you cant pass CeMAP3 twice then you should rethink your career path. It is by far the easiest of all the modules if you have the right knowledge and understanding. I got my highest marks on this module when I did mine and it really is not difficult.

Ignore minimike. Minimike is just showing off. LOL.....

    You have to practice more!

PS. Minimike wants to reduce the amount of mortgage advisors on the market in order to make more business for Mr Minimike. LOL.

It's a fair point Minimike, I got far too entrenched with the positive mindset that we are all tring to adopt I feel I may have missed the point a little!!

module 3 is the easiest, I got mine without revision (just a couple of past papers) although I did have 10 years industry experience at the time.

OP what is attracting you to being a mortgage advisor just now?

Clients expect to be advised by people with a good understanding and interest in the world of finance. I take it the OP is therefore aware the industry is not a great place to be employed right now?

Am I the only one here who thinks that advisers are telling people to ditch the mortgage jobs or go to the exciting link of http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk ? LOL.

Anyway, you can say all you want. I have seen people pass the CII or IFS mortgage advice exams are they are still rubbish. It comes down to the individual. If someone told you were rubbish do you quit now or do you continue?

She asked for help. I believe you have one more try on the Cemap exam if you are employed by an financial institution or your out? Right? Most companies will only allow you to have 3 tries if you are in the training period.

  • Dear All,
Thank you for your replies, they all are valuable for me.
I want to tell teddyruk.... that i had ordered the mock papers and also did the synoptic case studies but i couldn't make-up in the CeMap 3(Last module) test. But
since i came to UK 1.5yrs back, and unemployed since then plus i didn't had any training for the course,i deserve one more chance.I did both the modules on my own and on the basis of my understanding of the content without having any knowledge of the UK mortgage industry.
So as far as my mind works i should give it a try again!
For that i want to join any training for my better understanding.
So could anyone suggest which training is the best.

    Thanks&Regards

Your local area will have courses for the IFS Cemap course. It costs around £300 for the full 3 modules. Therefore pointless. To be honest, I have mixed reviews about training courses from colleagues. Some have benefitted but and others not.

I used the material from ebay and found it useful. I believe the only reason you have failed is because you are now under pressure to pass. Sounds stupid but it is. Strangely, the way to pass this paper is to go through all the mock questions in paper form. Then use the so called rubbish IFS cd they have.
Set up mock questions. Understand the phrasing of the questions on the paper provided.

    And just pass.....

Word of advice. If you can not get a pass mark of 90% and above on the pass papers. Do not take the exam. From experience and coaching other people, this is the percentage you should aim to getting whilst practicing.

As the above said. It is the easiest exam out of all of them. All trainers recommend that students actually study and take the Cemap 2 and Cemap 3 modules first. Then to complete the hardest module of them all. Cemap 1.

Be brave. Put more hours in. You are expected to put in full 2 weeks none stop training on this exam at least. That means 8 hours a day.

People really think these exams are a walk in the park. They are not. Put in the hours and you will be fine.

I passed my CEFA 4 this week, 1st time and I believe that CeMap 3 is similar to CEFA 4 as its the synopsis exam. The main reason why I passed is I studied the case studies and predicted what kind of questions would come up in the exam. This helped so much as I was fully prepared for what questions would arise.

    Good luck!
