hi, given the present situation with my ex, all contact has broken down. I have previously been told by the csa that he left work a couple of months ago, and that he had a nil assessment.
I have now just been told by the csa that he is no longer on benefits, so i assume he has a new job. As he has never responded to the csa in any way, i am under no illusions that he will have told them this. He had a deo set up in his last employer, after missing so many months when he was supposed to pay voluntarily - will i have to wait all those months again, or can we go straight to a deo - and thats providing they can at least find where he is working.
Any one any idea on how long the csa can take to find out someone's employment?

They will do a tax or NI sweep and pick up his location from that. The DEO should follow as a matter of course. That is how it works, as to how long, well anyone's guess.0

thanks Blob - do i need to keep on at them to do this? And if any maintenence is due, is that from the date of him starting his new job, or from the date that the csa get in touch with his new employer?0 -
My understanding is that he is now running up arrears as it will be from the first contact. As they say you can run but you cant hide, but in some cases they can.
Again in my experiance it is always good to keep on at them, so your file wont get to teh bottom of the pile if you know what I mean!0 -
Defo keep on at them - make it a weekly call and get the person's name you speak to (I can virtually hear pd001 having kittens!).
If he is in employment then, as Blob says, a NI check should weedle him out. My understanding is that he will be 'given the benefit of the doubt' and have the opportunity to pay before a DEo but you should ask your case worker about this and point out that he is non compliant and push for immediate DEO. Legally they may have to give him a chance to pay though - I totally understand what you mean about him already being on a DEO but they may take the view that this is a new assessment so therefore a 'clean sheet'.
Double check though and push for DEO and keep badgering them!0
