Accepting job offer

Just wondering if anyone could help regarding accepting a job offer? I had an interview today which went very well and should hear later today / tommorrow if I am being offered the job. I also have an interview on Friday for job with more responsibility and more pay which I am really keen on too.
I did mention to the employer that I had another interview lined up so if I am offered the position, how understanding are they likely to be that I would like to attend the interview on friday? (ie. delay accepting the offer)
I am keen on the 1st position and do not want to give the employer the impression that I prefer the other one, just would like to give both a shot.
I know the first employer is looking for someone to start asap and that it could take a while to get a response from the second so I don't want to mess them about.
I am probably jumping the gun and won't get the job offer but wanted to be prepared in case.
After 2 months of job hunting after redundancy I have had 3 interviews in 1 week so for everyone job hunting, stay positive! there are opportunities out there!
Thanks

Depends on whether you subscribe to the bird in the hand in worth two in the bush theory,lol!
Personally if I were in your shoes, and you were offered it, I would accept the first job (you can always say you will start monday) and then if you ge the second job you can resign.
It will give you a chance to try out job no 1 - sometimes more money / responsibility is not all its cracked up to be.2014 Target;

I had a similar expeience to this. I went for 2 jobs one i had to complete 3 interviews and an apptitude test, in the middle of this i had an interview for another job. Got accepted for both so had to let the first one down. After going through 3 interviews and a test. When i rang and told them i would have to decline the recruitment manager threw his teddies out of the pram for wasting his time!
the way he spoke to me i'm glad i didn't take the job in the first place0 -
Thanks for the advice, just waiting to hear now!0

Well I got the second job! really pleased as I think it will suit me better and is a great challenge. I was offered a second interview for the first job as they couldn't decide between me and somebody else so although I didn't need the advice in the end it is much appreciated.0
