No more in-store ordering at M&S

Not much help but there are some codes for 15% discount, and also FREEDELV gets you free delivery at the moment, plus you can get 5% cashback from going through Quidco.
I see both sides; I vary in some item sizes and wouldn't be able to afford to buy more than one size of an item to try on just in case, despite being able to refund anything not suitable, so I wouldn't want to pay first, but I know Next does this and I understand why M&S may want to do the same.0 -
the store staff were kept on the dark about this apparently my local were only informed on the thurs that this was being implemented on the sun.the best thing to do is complain to h/o cos if you don't they think everyone is happy about it.0

I just think if M&S is not going to allow customers to order in different sizes than they should try and make an effort to make sure stores have a decent range of sizes. I have lost count of the number of times I have gone into M&S only to be told they don't have a particular item in my size and they don't know when they will get them in. I saw a coat in my local M&S last year and it was only available in 10, 16 and 18. I went in several times over three weeks and they just did not get in any other sizes.
I do appreciate that it is a pain in the bum when people order stuff and do not collect it. It happens where I work too, but I do think M&S are going to put a lot of people off.
I don't think that in my experience this is only a M&S issue. I've had that in several large outlets before too.
I also think that more will be available because stock isn't sat in the back of god knows how many stock rooms waiting to be picked up.
Our local seems to rotate stock really quickly. I am loving the baby wear prices verses quality and work clothes so i'll work around whatever systems they bring in. :T0 -
It seems to me as though M&S have realised that they can no longer continue by offering customer service above and beyond what other companies offer. It used to be that pretty much only M&S had a guaranteed returns policy - but that has been taken up by almost all major retailers now.
I do believe that that was M&S's strength for many years but when it went away they then struggled to find their place in the market and are still struggling. I used to shop there, quite regularly, until most of the other shops started offering a fair returns policy - once that happened M&S became overpriced. I used to love being able to wander into M&S, buy a pair of trousers, take them home, try them on and then take them back a few days later if they weren't right. Now that nearly every store offers that service, I have no reason to use M&S.

Stuart Rose was on breakfast TV this morning. When asked about this, he said they will be bringing back the instore ordering service.
Perhaps they have listened to their customers after all?0 -
He didn't sound particularly bothered to me and seemed to try to sweep it under the carpet-I wouldn't hold my breath!Filiss0
