I wanna book on quilting

I'm thinking of trying quilting. Have tried my hand at various other types of needlework over the years and every time we are in the US I keep looking at the handcrafted quilts and thinking it would be nice to try. Won't start with a quilt, more likely a table runner or something small.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good book to give some background and designs.

Not too sure about which book to recommend there are plenty out there, I usually head to the library and grab a load, then if any have a pattern I like I scan the pattern!

To be honest you can find out a lot about it on the internet, perhaps join an american quilting forum there must be some about.

you could try in your local charity shops, ive picked up a few good cross stitch books from mine.

Have a look at Quilting For Dummies , i have the book and its very helpful.Maybe try your local library first to see which book you like.
