Make Your Own Lamb Kebabs

Went into Mr T's and saw that they were selling 4 Lamb kebabs with mint on Skewers for 2 pounds and encouraging you to buy 6 packs for 10 pounds.
At first I thought this was a good deal, then I looked how much meat there was on each kebab.
Instead I bought some lamb mince, added seasoning and some mint sauce. I had enough mince for 12 kebabs, 8 more than tesco, and for less than the 2 quid they were charging.
Only took 5 minutes to mix them, roll them and skewer them.
Every little helps.
PS Mr T's had conveniently run out of wooden skewers. But Mr PS'er kindly helped out at just 59p.

Oh they sound nice. What seasoning did you use? I've been fancying some kababs and salad but when I've looked at them in the supermarket they are just so expensive to buy for what they are. I was looking at some lovely chicken and lemon ones in morrisons but couldn't justify buying them.
I know I could make them, but it's the seasoning and marinating I'm not sure what to use or do. I actually find a little bit of garam masala adds a nice flavour. I started making my own lamb kebabs last year and am quite proud of them. Now I have a garden they are going to be a staple of the BBQ season!0

It's funny you should say that, I defrosted some lamb mince yesterday and thought what can I make that's a bit different.......kebabs, we had them last night. I made spicy one and mint ones.
I half 500grams of lamb mince and put 250gr in a bowl each, to the spicy ones I added the following to taste~
cumin, corriander and hot chilli powder, salt , pepper, garlic puree, half a chopped onion and half an egg
To the mint ones I added~
mint sauce, salt, pepper, half and egg, garlic puree and half a chopped onion.
I made them in to little patties, got around 12 between the both mixtures and served with warm pitta bread, salad and couscous, it was yummy!!!:D
I've got more lamb mince in the freexer so we'll be having that again next week.0 -
Stupid question 468: How do you get the mince to stay on the kebab?????? I would have thought it would all fall off or do you just make them into sausage shape thingys?0

I use coriander in mine and bread that has been soaked in water to bind ( A Turkish friend told me that is how they make them at home)
I then make a marinade with a little mint sauce and some tomato ketchup and leave for a couple of hours - delish!Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Good spot OP - sometimes it can be just as easy to make your own food, just copy ideas from supermarkets. I've bookmarked your recipe for my "must get round to" list.
