Your Help - Return to NEXT???

Hi apologies if this is the wrong board to put this on, not sure where else to put it.
I bought a pair of school shoes for my 5yr old daughter 2 days ago from Next. Beautiful shoes, wouldn't normally buy from next (can't afford to), but they were in the sale and I expected them to be of good quality and would be worth it.
Problem is she has only worn them to school yesterday and today and has come home with them covered in very bad scuffs on both shoes. I fully appreciate that she has made the scuffs, however, the last pair of shoes she had were from Asda and lasted 6 months until the first scuffs appeared. I would expect better quality from Next.
I am heading off to Next to try to get a refund. Am I within my rights to do so? Any advice would be much appreciated.

No,your not entitled to a refund ,but if you want to tough it out,Next generally has v good customer service, ask to speak to the Manager, you might get one,if you are charming. They are more willing to give exchanges or credit vouchers in these type of situations.0

I might be wrong but I think Asda's school shoes are advertised as 'anti scuff' which means they put some horrible coating on the leather to prevent the shoes from scuffing but it also prevent the shoes from letting your feet breathe.
Next do not do this and your daughter has simply scuffed her shoes and you need to polish them instead of asking for a refund. That sounds a bit blunt but its just my opinion.
I work in a shoe shop and you just need some shoe cream with a high dye content - leave it to soak overnight to help cover the scuffs better and polish/buff up in the morning.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
I think if they allowed it most parents would be back and forth to Clarks etc every week for a replacement pair of shoes! Just kids I'm afraid.0

I don't think "badly scuffed" really described the state of the shoes. The leather had actually gone and looked like someone had taken sandpaper to them! When I thought about it more she had actually only worn the shoes outside for a total of 3 hours to school (4 breaks and 2 lunchtimes over 2 days).
Thanks all for your help. To update you I did take them back to Next and was given a full refund, staff very helpful.
I accept that children are children, however sometimes it does come back to quality of the product.Be careful what you wish 4.......... :shhh:0 -

I think that if Next are selling shoes aimed at 5yr olds; then they should appreciate how a 5yr old will treat them.....
