cheap laptop

Hello I'm looking for a laptop and because I can get the DELL employee program discount, I've been looking there.
The discount is 3%
Cashback is around 6%

To me it's a no brainer - go for the cashbash - but - my moneysaving nose tweeks - is there anyway of combining the two.

If there is anyone who wants to give me any advice on bying a laptop, here are the specs

It will be mainly used for internet and will be used solely abroad -( so hassle free is a must - no point in having great support - it just has to be a reliable make)
It needs to have a good processer and enough memory that it shouldn't need an upgrade for a bit.

looking to spend less than £400

I can't think there is anything else.

can anyone help xxx

I bought the Dell Inspiron 1525 last year, quite reliable too.

Dell have stopped selling this line of laptop but you can get one from Curry's for £329.97. This is about £30 cheaper than what I paid.

Below is the spec for the Dell 1525 though you may want to check this with Curry's. The TrueLife LCD screen may not be included with the one from Curry's for example. And the warranty mentioned below is what I got from Dell when I purchased it. You'll have to enquire about this.

If Curry's try flogging you a warranty tell them you'll only purchase it if they'll knock the price of the warranty off the laptop (or an acceptable percentage off the price of the laptop).

Sales staff are often targeted on the amount of warranties they can sell on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis. Reaching this target is often crucial to them; therefore it gives consumers a real bargaining tool to haggle down the cost of products that are suggested to have a warranty.

In addition to buying a product at a cheaper price, you're free to change your mind within 14 days of purchasing the insurance, and are entitled to a full refund on the policy! Therefore, you end up with the item you wanted cheaper and no warranty cost to pay.

    And if you're a student

A student discount isn't necessarily limited to NUS card holders. Many shops promote that the discount's only available “on production of a valid NUS card”, but if you're in further or higher education at an institution that doesn't provide you with a NUS card, double check with the retailer in case they're willing to accept another form of student I.D. Often the decision's at the discretion of the shop assistant.

I went to buy my laptop on Saturday. the assistant said she couldn't knock anything off the Dell. I asked if she could if i bought the insurance (2 yeqars at 180 i think. )
She asked how much would i want off.
Got £30 off - I did check before i signed that i could return and i did - next day.

    Thank you x

I'm sure I got my 3 year warranty for much cheaper than that (with Dell themselves), was the discount worth it?
