First time buyer and new job

Hi There,

Me and my partner are hoping to be first time buyers. I have just managed to pay off most of my debts and he has saved up a small amount for a deposit.
I have just been offered a new job in a different company for more money, but after speaking to HSBC on the phone in my lunch hour they did not want to know as I have a six month probationary period in my new contract.

Are we really going to have to wait another six months to escape from the suburbs and my father ?
Perhaps I am being very silly but I thought that they would able go off my last 3 payslips ( even though at lower pay ).

Can't really ask my new company for them to waiver the six month probationary period yet, don't even start till 3rd April!!

Please help !!

I was in a similar situation however I'd been in my new job over 3 months by the time I needed the mortgage. Mortgage company contacted HR dept who then contacted my manager and asked was he happy with my performance, and he said yes and gave them the go ahead to take me off probation a few months early. So it is possible depending on how much your new employer likes you, however you're right I doubt they'll waive the entire six months!

There may well be lenders willing to look at your mortgage application provided you have a good track record in employment and if you have got a signed contract as proof of the new job
