Is this a scam

Today received a letter from a Jason Clifford claiming that i can make up to £50.000 in 6months. All i have to is send 10 1pound coins to ten people listed in the letter and i will be included in their mailing list so when they send letters my name is on their list and i will receive 1pound per reply.
So if 200 reply i get 200 pounds.
I want to know if this a scam as this is the 5th letter i have received.

I believe this is called a pyramid scheme, which I think is illegal in the UK (and definately a scam)

Definite scam, file the letter in the big round filing cabinet, or even better in the recycle bin, at least some use will come out of it then. (Shred your address details though!)

pyramid scams work for the first few (the ones that set them up, they then rely on people like you complying to them an then lots of others doin the same after them!

you can actually make money on them as i no someone that did but 99.9% of the time u loose out! especially as sometimes there made to sound like a pyramid scam like this dose then actually its not its 1 person using 10 addresses sending thousands of letters out to get replies to them only an never actually using ur details like a real pyramid scam would

    best to stay away
