  • Bought the red in Tescos in an attempt to reduce my alcohol intake - as a previous post said, it's only 8%, some strong beers reach that. No body, tasted like raspberry juice, pleasant enough if you weren't expecting wine!
  • The Melbourne Lounge Red that Tescos are selling for £10 for 3 is in my opinion quite drinkable and good value. If you buy 6 bottles or more you get a further 5% off (as usual for Tesco wine) and of course if you use the new 2 for 1 for your club card vouchers in store or on the web it will be even cheaper!

Ye Gods - there are some snobs posting on this thread. Nice to know of the offer but please don't pontificate. If you don't want to try it just don't. Don't bleat to everyone else about it....

This is a discussion board, which is what people are doing. I am happy to use for cooking as per my previous post. ;)

I bought the rose and white and they're terrible! However, you can cook with them - the white does a good job at keeping roast chicken moist! Yet to find a use for the rose - had thought perhaps posh wine-flavoured jelly?!?!

I would really like to drink English wine given the opportunity. I did try this one out of interest. I do agree it is not very much like wine. If anyone knows of any affordable English wines I would be interested.

    Thanks

I have not tried any, mores the pity. I have stumbled upon the following site, which has lots of info, and tells you where to buy from:

    http://www.english-wine.com/

Heres another one which says that "in recent years English wine is a force to be reckoned with":

Lastly theres an English wine week!(23rd-31st May), which looks very interesting:

Hey - this wine still crops up from time to time in Tesco. The Rose is quite palatable and being only 8% is also quite drinkable. I remember a time when most wine was this strength and was drunk for enjoyment not to get drunk or to make a point about how sophisticated our palates are.
