April 17th 2010 - any reason why not?

Hi
We may move our prospective wedding date to accomodate some friends, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a reason why April 17th 2010 wouldn't be a good date? I have checked Easter (4th April - so hopefully Easter hols will be over) and football (not close enough to the end of the season to be overly important). All I can think of is the weather, but April has been lovely the last few years.
Can anyone suggest anything else I need to watch out for?
xx

i cant think of anything overly important other than easter, which as you see, is before then. Unless loads of your friends have birthdays in April? I honestly cant think of anything an Im recking my brains!Life is what you make it.0

It's 2 weeks before one friend's birthday, but she's my only bridesmaid anyway and she's fine with that date. Thanks weeclick - now to convince the fiance!0

I think whatever date you choose something always turns up so you just have to not worry too much about it. I thought English spring bank was a good date to make it easier for friends and family from England to come up, especially with school holidays. But at the time I didn't know a major rugby match was going to be on the same day meaning hotels got booked up pretty snappy and prices went up.
Is there anything local to your venue that might push prices up like a festival or sports event? Otherwise go for that date, you're right about having had good weather the past few years!Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

I have it on good authority that it will rain that day0

It rained this year...but didn't spoil our perfect day in any way at all! As an April 17th 2009 bride I can thoroughly recommend the date! Best thing is there should be a May Day Bank Holiday waiting for you at the end of your 2 week honeymoon!0

ahh well thought out about the mayday break lol!! As said before, not everyone will find a date that will suit - but youve got to please yourself, its yours and your partners day after all and Im sure your friends can juggle a few things round to make sure they can attend.
Best of luck with all the preparationsLife is what you make it.0
