Selling old gold

Has anyone done this? Which sites are good and reliable and which ones are the rip offs. There are loads of sites, but one calculated £75 for my 16 grams of gold and another £112 ! I obviously want the maximum payout, but worry that they might say it got lost in the post!!

I have done this just over a month ago. I had about 50-60g of scrap gold and got just under £500 for it. They called and confirmed they'd recieved it, confirmed I was happy with the price (roughly £7 a gram) and sent the cheque out 2 days later.

The best one in the country to use is Falkos Gold

    Good Luck!!

    Total rip off.

Today the value of Gold on the link I posted is currently £6.57 per gram for 9ct gold. More the higher the carat.

I have done this a few times with a company called 'We Buy Old Gold'.
Very reliable company based in Scotland. If you go to their website, you can request an envelope, they then send you free a pre-paid special delivery envelope. So its all insured!

They receive your gold, weigh it, evaluate it then give you a call with a quote. If you accept, its normally in your bank account the next day.

We have done a couple of transactions with them. I received about £350 for my jewellery. Mum received about £2000 for hers. She had a lot more than me. When I took my few bits in, I got quoted about £50 for the lot. So glad didnt part with it then, but kick myself about what I have thrown away (broken things etc). They buy new gold, broken gold, tarnished etc. All kinds.

Lovely team there. A guy called John is the boss that calls you, but they respond quickly to emails as well.
They then have a refer a friend scheme, which you can then earn money on.
Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!

best price i have found is with:

    cashforyourgold.co.uk

Haven't used them yet (going to be using them next week), but their webiste looks professional, and they have a lot of good comments.

They are based in Wolverhampton, and you can take the gold in personally if you feel wary of doing it over the internet/post.

so i used "cashforyourgold" for the first time on Monday.
Not sure if i have been scammed or not.

I sent lots of ear-rings, all indian gold (22carat) on friday.

They rang me on monday saying that it wasn't pure 22k so they were doing an adjustment of 1.7g (£29) to account for the impurities. Obviously i have to take their word for it, so they may have been telling the truth, who knows?

They also said that one of the pair of ear-rings wasn't gold at all - 5.8g (£99) worth.
Again i have to take their word for it - they all looked gold to me before i sent it, but maybe it wasn't, i have no way of knowing now. They won't send it back without a £10 admin fee.

Finally, they gave me £17.11 per gram which was the price on the friday when i filled in their form & sent it off. But the price actually rose on Monday, but they still gave me £17.11/gram. so not sure if they tried to sneak a few pence there.

so potentially they were very good, but also potentially they scammed me for a few bits here & there.

thats the issue i guess, there is no way of knowing whether they are genuine or not - all those testimonials for all the sites mentioned could just be from people who weren't checking the latest gold price, and hadn't weighed the gold to 0.01 grams before sending it off.

Going to try Hattongardenmetals for my next natch of gold to sell.
